Review of Filth (2013) by Matt C — 07 Nov 2017
This movie is bonkers. It's interesting, both in concept and execution. The direction and McAvoy actually give one of the most despicable characters a good amount of depth, and the script is interesting.
It has what could be called a twist towards the end, which kind of works and kind of doesn't. There are some sporadic bits that don't work, not because of how weird it is--that's all justified--it just doesn't quite pay off.
I did really like the ending, though, even if it was a little too overdrawn. Still, just to reiterate, this might be James McAvoy's best performance.
