Review of Femme Fatale (2002) by Zane T — 25 Feb 2009
This movie is all style, but nothing else. It's like watching some college student film. There's a lot of camera and editing techniques, but there's hardly any good acting, except for Antonio Banderas trying to act all effeminate in one scene.
You'll never hear "Bang!" the same way again. But aside from that, Rebecca Romin just doesn't cut it as a seductress. The plot is mediocre, but there's a twist at the end that is a let down (FYI: It was all just a dream.
) Then, the movie's conclusion all seems to fall under the dues ex machina. No wonder Peter Coyote went to make those Return of the Living Dead movies after this one. He's like in three scenes and has little dialogue.
Gregg Henry has a bigger part. If watching a lot of editing and camera moves is your bag, then this is the movie for you. Other than that, skip it.
