Review of Female Trouble (1976) by Ladd W — 23 Aug 2007
I didn't like this film as much as Pink Flamingos, whose cast returns in this so-so follow-up. Divine goes absolutely bonkers as jailbait Dawn Davenport. The resulting spiral into depravity is more tiresome than entertaining.
The whole "crime doesn't pay" plot goes beyond outrageous, lacking the cool restraint of Waters' later pictures. The theme song, sung by Divine, is pretty catchy though.
