You read what this is about and wonder: Am I getting ready to watch an old Prime? The people seeing this probably wouldn't think that but you get my point. What on the surface seems like a stereotypical melodrama becomes something more.

A film about two real people devoid of the vanities in life that restrict so many. It's refreshing to see real love on film and that's what this feels like. Nothing is artificial here. The dialogue between the two leads is so simple yet portrays a sense of complexity that most films can't touch.

It never goes overboard with it's emotional palette. It maintains a sort of quiet desperation(thanks, ebert!) between the two throughout the film. I'm not saying that this film is depressing, though.

It has it's shares of wonderfully joyous moments as well. The entire first act or so could be called that. What sets this film apart is how it clearly steers away from convention. There's a scene in the film at the end when I thought it would fall apart on itself but maintained a smart and original approach to a situation that most films I've seen have failed at so many times.

It's moments like that that makes this film so special and one of a kind.
