Review of Fear of Fear (1975) by Matthew S — 25 Feb 2015
Fassbinder's predilictions toward Sirk's melodramas are perhaps nowhere more prevalent than in 'Ali: Fear Eats the Soul', a film filled with the rich colors one would expect from Sirk, and the condemnation of Germany's past that so preoccupies much of RWF's work.
A gentle romance and a rousing indictment of society's failures, this film simply must be seen. Moving and horrifying and maddening all at once.
