Review of Fear and Desire (1953) by Paul D — 30 Jul 2012
More interesting strictly based off of that fact that it is Kubrick's first film than it is for the actual storyline or filmmaking. Fans of his will want to watch it just to see where he started off, but few others will be into it.
I think it's pretty cool that he cut his teeth on this movie then tried to hide it away from the world so that we couldn't see him learning his craft, just him perfecting it later on; a sign of how much of a perfectionist he was.
Much to his dismay, nothing can be kept hidden from the internet today.
