Review of Fear and Desire (1953) by Richard J M — 08 Sep 2013
It is clear to see why Kubrick wanted to keep Fear And Desire away from the public eye, with it's awkward acting and dreadful editing often imposing. Despite this, there are some great shots, fantastically lit by the director himself, which hint that Kubrick was one to keep an eye on.
The story is interesting, if sometimes odd, and definitely comes across as the work of a talented amateur finding his feet.
