Review of Father Stu (2022) by Elece28 — 08 Apr 2023
Honestly, I don't get the hate it gets by the critics. The acting by Wahlberg and Gibson is quite compelling and it's more real and honest than any other religious drama movie I've seen, with four-dimensional characters and down to earth dialogue.
The fact that it's a religious movie at its core doesn't shy this movie away from having strong language in its conversation, and that's a type of honesty I can appreciate. I believe Wahlberg's acting capabilities are as good as the director or the script of the movie wants it to be, but he does a real good job this time.
The handling of Father Stu's disease might have been done better, but all in all it's an inspiring movie that I can recommend if you're searching for inspiration or a religious movie with a deep message.
