Review of Fatal Contact (2006) by Movie K — 26 Jan 2014

This movie surprisly quite good. The fight scenes are pretty well done. Wu Jing is a opera performer as well as a wushu champion. He got approach by an underground bookie Eddie Cheung who holds illegal fights and bets.

Wu Jing reject his offer. Ronald Cheng works under Cheung. Miki Yeung work in the same troupe as Wu Jing. She warn her good friend Theresa Fu not to fall into her boyfriend trap when he propose to her.

They go for steamboat and she want to use the coupon, but its not accepted. She refuse to budge and Wu pays the bill and drag her go. She don't like to be in poverty. She bring him to see the underground fight.

Eddie ask Wu to fight and he agree. Wu in two moves finish the opponent and win HK$2 million. Seeing Miki so happy, he agree to return. Lam Suet task Ronald to take care of them. Miki saw Theresa and she end up as whore.

She tell her to find a customer which is good so she can leave with him out of misery. The gangsters fight them and Ronald can actually fight very well. Eddie work with another big time bookie Yu Gu to expand the bet business.

Ken Lo is the bigger senior and he's not happy Yu is doing the same business as him. They increase the bet and Miki ask Eddie for more prize money. Wu manage to win the tough opponent. He treat Miki very well.

Miki saw Theresa and she's a rich man mistress. Ken bet with Yu a 3-on-3 battle and the first 2 fighters are easily defeated by Ken's first fighter. Wu defeat him and the 2nd guy put nails in shoe and glove, injuring him badly.

The last fighter is tough and Wu go berserk and defeat him. He feel bad for nearly killing the last guy. He ask Miki to be his girlfriend and she agree. Ken place heavy bets and Yu is pressure. Wu ask for more money and tell Ronald to train him.

He will get the money if Wu win. His opponent Yu Xing is very tough but Wu break his hand and leg and win. Ken kill him for making him lose. Ronald receive the prize money from Wu. His mum once told him people without status and power but with ability, will be make use by those with status and power, and the loser will always be ownself.

Yu found another new fighter Timmy Hung. The next match all bets on Wu to win. Eddie want Wu to lose and Miki is held hostage. Turns out Miki make a deal with Eddie back then to bring Wu to the fight and she is his woman.

Wu purposely miss a kick to break his leg and Timmy defeat him. Wu is ok in hospital. Ronald message him he is going back home for good. Miki feel so bad and remorse when Wu plans to marry her with the money he earned.

She jump down from hospital. Wu go on killing rampage and kill Yu. Eddie tells him Miki is in cahoot all along and he don't believe. The police shot Wu dead before he can kill Eddie. Miki corpse keep tearing and the staff feel like she is crying out all her lifetime tears.

The ending is quite sad and abrupt.
