Review of Fatal Contact (2006) by Kent L — 09 Aug 2008
I would have given this film a 4.5 rating because of the great fight sequences and an ok storyline for the main character, but the crap ending and the depressing hooker storyline dragged this film down to a 3, makes wonder if they did this on purpose so that they would easily be able to top Fatal Contact with the next Wu Jing film, or were they afraid that Wu Jing won't be able to sell as good as the old timers (Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Sammo Hung and Donnie Yen?) Well, whatever it is this film certainly showed Wu Jing is the next Jet Li and can hold a main character role.
Anyway great acting from Wu Jing, his character has a real good guy feel, the rest of the cast were pretty lame, wire work is used in this film but it isn't used in a clumsy way, and isn't as obviouse as some other films.
A way better film with Wu Jing is Invisible Target which in my opinion topped Flashpoint as the best action HK film of 2007.
