A film exploring Sino-Japanese hostility and the Cultural Revolution, homosexuality, personal identity,abandonment, love, lust, the strange and brutal world of Peking Opera and so much more and doing it all in such a beautiful package.
While it may be very long, I never felt it was too long. Be warned, this film will not make you feel good for most of its running time!
