Review of Fantastic Planet (1973) by Ted W — 29 Dec 2009
What a beautiful film. The mood evoked by this surreal, superbly illustrated dance among Dali and Bosch sceneries will not soon leave you. That the plot is a mere thread detracts nothing from this film; the real story is taking place in your own subconscious as you watch an environment unfolding in progressively beautiful layers, revealing a dreamscape at once beautifully alien and yet wierdly familiar.
It will become an old favorite right away.
