Review of Fanny and Alexander (1982) by Joseph L — 19 Mar 2008
Wonderful to see Bergman tackling a film from the perspective of an imaginative child. Very engaging cast of characters, the parts with the prick bishop are harshly moving. Alexander, the bishop and the grandma are amazing characters acted flawlessly.
Though the TV version is better, the theatrical cut actually works (unlike Scenes) as some of scenes were easily edited without losing much.
