Review of Fanny and Alexander (1982) by Daniel H — 05 Apr 2008
Brilliant. about a fourth of the way through, I realized that it's real in the same way that Shakespeare's plays are real. everything was amazing, the acting, characters, story, Bergman's divine imagination, the aesthetic of every scene, shot, the whole film.
perfect coexistence of the incredibly humorous and the impossibly hopeless, even within a matter of seconds. the length is hardly noticeable, it's like having a dream.
