Review of Fanny and Alexander (1982) by Ritwik G — 27 May 2009
If it's Bergman, it has to be good.. Fanny and Alexander draws up a brilliant contrast of what is good , what is bad, and what is the majority...gray. It deals with quintessential Bergman themes of the paranormal, of the concept of 'the others'(existentialism??) and of evil in good, and good in evil.
..The pace however slackens quite often, and unnecessary details and events are thrown in. I would've loved it if it were an hour shorter...
