Review of Fading Gigolo (2013) by Thomas N — 10 Nov 2014
Fading Gigolo still feels like a Woody Allen film, despite being the rare instant that Allen did not write or direct it. John Turturro wrote, directed, and stars in this small comedy about two out of men who get into the business of pleasing women for money. Allen is his usual neurotic self and Turturro is a quiet gigolo who falls in love with one of his clients. The movie doesn't know if it wants to be a farce or romantic comedy. It just never gets to that other level of comedy that one suspects. It does have it sweet moments and funny lines.
Grade: B-.
