Review of Factotum (2005) by Bognar R — 13 Feb 2008
Once again Bent Hammer dishes up a quirky view of the world. this time through the writings of Charles Bukowski. This film draws from four of Bukowski's books, two of which I am familiar. Matt dillon does a great job of capturing the essence of Henry Chinaksi and although it isn't an exact reading of the book from which the film derives it's name it has the basic idea down.
I would like to watch this again along with Barfly (screenplay by Bukowski) and see the differences and similarites. Judging by the reviews here it wseems like this one is more appreciated than it's predicessor.
I still enjoyed it but I would have like to have seen the film end with the same punchline as the book.
