Review of Factotum (2005) by Martin J — 10 Feb 2010
A competent adaption of the classic Bukowski book, but Matt Dillon is far too good looking to be playing Henry Chianski, and Marisa Tomei is far too good looking to be playing ANY of the girls in the movie.
The appeal of Bukowski was that he was a slobbery, unfit drunk who had sex with average, sometimes ugly, women. Seeing attractive people in the movie just doesn't sit well. Because of this, it can't possibly live up to the book.
