Review of Faces (1968) by Carnelia G — 03 Jun 2007
I've seen this again recently, and I still squirm and feel the urge to close my eyes at some of the scenes. It's a brutal portrayal of relationships and marriage as an institution (very Bergman-esque).
But I have to say, the most powerful scene is when Cassavetes doesn't emply his signature shaky camera and close-ups: the final scene is riveting and tragic.
