Review of Faces (1968) by Chris A — 12 Mar 2009
This movie did a good job of showing how stupid and vapid the pre-radical '60s (and '50s) were. When Frank Sinatra is your hero, it's nowheresville for you baby. At the same time, the character who represents the "new generation" is nothing but a go-go dancing asshole and woman-abuser (and thus more loathsome than his older counterparts).
It's hard to like any of the male characters in this movie and hard not to feel for all of the women. In addition, the camera work and acting in this movie were great. If you ever longed for the good ole days when wearing tweed jackets, drinking martinis and hittin' on dames was where it was at, watch this movie and realize that in addition to all those things, you also had to be an asshole.
