Review of Eyes Without a Face (1960) by James R — 13 Nov 2008
Good enough that Jess Franco ripped it off at least twice, this is without doubt one of the best examples of the "surgical horror" subgenre. The film's restraint is remarkable, although *that* surgery scene is still bracing nearly half a century later; how many other films of this vintage offer scenes that are still so harrowing to watch?
