I didnt really like this film the first time I saw it, but after rewatching it Ive changed my mind. I admit that the film has a few flaws, such as how it does seem to drag on. But anyone who is familiar with Kubricks work shouldnt be too shocked by that.

There are many loose ends and ambiguities about the characters throughout the film, which I like because I hate when films are dumbed down to the point that they beat us over the head with what they are trying to say. But anyone who is expecting an erotic soft-core porn film will probably come out disappointed. Like most of his films, Kubrick takes the genre of whatever he is working within and turns it upside down, giving us something we dont expect. This film does require patience, which most people dont have, and an eye for subtly.
