Review of Eyes Wide Shut (1999) by Cole M — 20 Feb 2012
Kubrick really ended with a bang here (whether or not you interpret that as a pun relating to the film is up to you). What makes "Eyes Wide Shut" so facinating is the mystery in the film and surrounding the production (pre and post).
Not many people knew what the film was about when they went to see it in theaters and the promotional material provided very little for us (the trailer is basically title cards intercutting with some footage).
My only real problem with the film was the runtime. Most of Kubrick's films tend to drag on a bit and this is no exception. But overall, it's a fitting conclusion to such a fascinating filmmaker.
