Review of eXistenZ (1999) by Jorge M — 16 Jun 2008
Holy Shit this film is T-R-I-P-P-Y!!! This film has ended any desire I had (and possibly made me fearful) for virtual reality games becoming mainstream in the future. The movie began being so out there, but eventually came around and had a somewhat interesting story.
It is also interesting how the themes in this film have double meanings: they are literal while simultaneously being contradictory. Oh, and did I mention this movie is confusing? My main problem with this film is the robotic performance of Jude Law in the role of a character with whom the audience is supposed to sympathize.
Wait, or is that supposed to be the behavior of his character in the game? Hold on, are we still in the game?...
