Review of Event Horizon (1997) by Cricrofinou — 30 Jun 2020
It is supposed to be a horror movie but the only thing it succesfully did was irritate the hell out of me with the cheapest jumpscares i've ever seen for a good half of the film. The characters are not endearing at all, I didn't feel anything when watching them die one by one (in the most predictable way I must add). This film is complete garbage in my opinion. I was never scared, never intrigued, never sad/happy for the characters, never nothing. The direction is uninspired af which makes the movie soooo boring. It's a shame because the story was kinda interesting but the telling was horrible. For exemple, they don't stop describing hell as the most disturbing/torturous place but we never see any of it except badly lit props and Sam Neill with too much make up. Looks more like schizophrenia than hell to me.
This movie is a such a mess.
