Review of Escape Plan (2013) by Kyle C — 26 Jul 2015
Where was this 15-20 years ago, well whatever, this, was, AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME. Arnie & Sly finally make a movie together (Expendables doesn't count) and this is exactly what they both needed, an action packed, actually very well made movie.
Yes, there are parts of this that are silly but so much of this is great that the silly parts don't even matter. If this would have been made when they were both in their prime it would have been even better.
Also, to me, this may have been Arnold's best performance because he actually has a few scenes where it is just him, and he nails it. Sly himself, still isn't the greatest actor and still has not learned to talk with his mouth open, but he went back to making the movies that he was great at in his day.
Even Jim Caviezel as the villain looked and seemed like he was having a lot of fun with this role. The story is quite intriguing as to just how Sly is going to escape from this trap, the action is top notch, the acting is quite good for a movie like this and the one-liners (come on it's an Arnold movie) are all great as well.
This was great to me also because the main jail, or The Tomb as it's called later (which was also the original title) reminded me a lot of the jail from Face/Off which is still my favorite movie so anything that reminds me of that is already high on my list.
This exceeded my expectations so I would so it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for Stallone fans, Arnold fans, movie fans, and pretty much everyone that likes action will like this.
