Review of Escape from Tomorrow (2013) by Alberto A — 21 May 2014
It feels much like a theme park itself -- really exciting at first, but then your senses are dulled, and eventually you just want to go. I do admire that some scenes were filmed in Disney Land itself and footage without asking permission and you can tell that some scenes were done in a studio or green screen, that's not to say that this film was daring and making the land of wonder a very dark place but even the "shocking" scenes were just mediocre.
The concept is perfect, about a father who loses his job while on a vacation at Disney and is dealing with a midlife crises. The cast is good and almost making the family situation real and the child cast almost fantastic but it was let down by a weak script but the film, it seemed, was made like the person who had a grudge against Disney itself but it was certainly daring but was spoilt by the fact Semi-surreal science fiction complications, botched horror and bad, flat acting erupt, as well as dad's perverse and lecherous desire for two underage French girls.
Worth a look but you wouldn't be missing much, which is a shame because it could've been a lot more daring.
