The action is now sparse and stuttering, the raggedy remains of New Yorks gang culture make look like extras from the Ch 5 tosh The Tribe and it's low budget 80's overtones and increasingly campy demeanour over the years may blight newer viewers interest, but it's this sort of plot invention mixed with a rich ensemble cast that makes this movie the gem it is 30 years on and the pinnacle of low budget values battling the scope only the studios of the time could afford.
