Totally tongue-in-cheek, unlike the straightforward original, Carpenter seems to levelling criticism at sequels in general by essentially remaking the same movie...Perhaps critical of Hallowe'en's constant remaking of itself in sequels.
In any case, for any b-movie coinoisseur, it's an absolute hoot.
