(1996) Esacpe From L.A.
SCIENCE-FICTION/ ACTION.
After the notoriety of "Escape From New York", producers green light this sequel figuring that if people liked the first one than they'll also like this sequel as well, and to make things more interesting to have more people to come and see this overrated action film by making it to a PG 13 even though the first one got an "R" rating- that's producers for you and obviously this BO flop turned out exactly what was expected. Anyways, cheesy and cheap CGI is the main highlight for this sequel as opposed to the first one which didn't use any, returning the Snake character played by Kurt Russell but quite toned down as opposed to what audiences saw from the first film. Plot is forgettable, in which the only thing I remember upon seeing this is the surfing scene which is beyond ridiculous. Like "Snake" the character was always the surfer type!
Although, this is obviously not the version director John Carpenter wanted to make with his original still being a better movie overall, it still can be appreciated for it's absurbness!
2.5 out of 4.
