Review of Equus (1977) by Jeff B — 27 Feb 2008

Interesting film starring Richard Burton as a psychiatrist who tries to find out why the young Peter Firth blinded seven horses with a metal spike. Very theatrical, perhaps a little too much so, but still a well done film.

I particularly loved Firth, he had a lot to work with but he pulled it off. Burton was also very good and I liked the small roles from Joan Plowright and Colin Blakely as Firth's parents. Some well shot and memorable moments, especially the horse ride at night, it's a different film that's worth checking out.
