Review of End of the Century: The Story of the Ramones (2003) by Joshua O — 16 Dec 2008
"End of the Century: The Story of the Ramones" is an unflinchingly honest documentary of the band, told from their individual perspectives. With the interviews as the narrative, we get a harsh and often bitter retrospective on the group that kick-started punk rock.
This film, along with the Sex Pistols doc, "The Filth and the Fury", and The Clash's "Westway to the World", should be required viewing for every young punk to understand not just the genre's early history, but more importantly the hard lessons learned from the pioneers themselves.
