Review of Encounters at the End of the World (2007) by Derrick P — 08 Jul 2008
I've seen over 30 of Herzog's films and this ain't one of his best but it's better than most of his recent films. The film has a weak start spending a lot of time in the town of McMurdo.
Luckily, Herzog tires of the town and goes off to find images of Antartica. After this the movie is quite mesmerizing. Standout images include the penguin walking to his death and the people with buckets on their heads.
The scene of the scientists watching THEM! made me explode with joy. Minor Herzog is better than most of the garbage at the cinema.
