Review of Encounters at the End of the World (2007) by Tiberio S — 09 Dec 2017
Herzog sets up a series of bizarre, seemingly disconnected questions that veer from the cliche thoughts of Antartica, but never directly addresses them again, instead leaving them lingering on the viewer to gage at their own pace as they voyeur through the icy southern landscape.
Through Herzog's pessimistic, misanthropic narration - his distaste for civilization's mark here, particularly detests places like a yoga studio - is a real feeling about natural wonder, what it means for man to touch it, and what can only be observed.
