Review of Encounters at the End of the World (2007) by Julie C — 25 Sep 2008
Beautiful images, and ultimately hilarious. These people can't deal with reality, but living in isolation in Antarctica, they have found others like themselves, and are free to pursue whatever it is they couldn't pursue in the real world.
I feel this is vaguely Errol Morris, making fun of the subjects he's interviewing, but for art.
My favorite scene is definitely when Werner gets some people together to put there ears to the ice and listen to the seal calls. I was in tears. So hilarious.
This was verging on a pretentious mess, but the funny won out. Hurrah!
