Review of Encounters at the End of the World (2007) by Simon W — 02 Feb 2009
Some truly memorable philosophies, stories and images- sub-zero waters, midday sun at 1am, volcanoes, prostitute penguins, dead (or is that killed?) languages... But the film veers frequently from the fascinating to the incredibly dull, largely thanks to Herzog's witty, but monotone commentary.
He doesn't even attempt to hide his contempt for his subjects and has one of the most boring voices on the planet.
