Review of Elizabeth: The Golden Age (2007) by Andy C — 31 Aug 2011
Not nearly as good as the first one. It was a bit long-winded and boring. I loved the costumes, hairstyles, set pieces, and shots but it felt a bit empty. A little too stylistic and not enough depth, especially with the script.
The one scene in the field with guying getting his tongue cut off was never really explained. The villian was cliche and one-sided and relationships seemed underdeveloped. A bit of a repeat of the first one.
I wished the battle scene had been a little more epic for all the hype. Blanchett was good.
