Review of Electroma (2006) by Daniel S — 10 Oct 2008
Fantastic. A surprisingly beautiful and enjoyable film, especially considering what it is. When I first entertained the idea of a surrealist/expressionalist silent film directed by and starring French techno/house duo Daft Punk, I thought it would be a little pretentious to be honest.
But what I got, was a beautifully photographed, haunting, gorgeous piece of experimental cinema, that falls somewhere between Videodrome-era David Cronenberg and Andy Warhol. The "washroom" scene is on par with anything ever conceived by Lynch or Buñuel.
