Review of El Topo (1970) by Rajneel S — 18 Nov 2007
Highly surrealist, intentionally challenging and hilariously dated and sometimes cheesy Biblical Western with an interperative plot and almost psuedo-poetic dialogue that is almost three films squeezed into one.
Very enjoyable for fans of psychedelic and absolute cinema, but low production value and mockingly obtuse visual metaphors have the potential to bore, annoy or drive you mad. Possibly the source of many arthouse surrealist cliches.
