Review of Eighth Grade (2018) by Kathryn J — 20 Jul 2018
I found this to be a sad and tragic story about a motherless adollescent and a sweet and clueless father. While the much younger audience were laughing hysterically, I never so much as smiled. The young actress was terrific, but I found this film to be a tremendous downer.
And, I feel so fortunate to have lived this time in my life without the disconnection from real life that comes from living in the virtual world. This film so clearly illustrates what has happened to genuine connection, face to face, with the people who should matter to us.
