Review of Eddie the Eagle (2016) by Tatsuhito K — 18 Mar 2016
A very disappointing biopic of a supposedly very inspirational figure. The chemistry between Egerton and Jackman is absolutely spot-on, and it is certainly a well-intentioned film with some uplifting message.
But in the end, Eddie the Eagle is full of cliches and over the top characters (besides our two main characters, everybody else in the film is a caricature), and excruciatingly by-the-numbers. It's schmaltzy, often overly dramatic, but more importantly it doesn't try to take any chances, Not a good movie.
