Review of Eddie and the Cruisers (1983) by Jonathan B — 18 Jan 2007
Bottom line, I love this movie, I love this soundtrack, and I feel that goes hand in hand. Although this film is based off a novel, I feel it rests more so on the music of John Cafferty. Who makes the greatest, completely inspired by The Boss' music ever not made by The Boss.
And because of that, this movie succeeds. I love Pare in this film, he exudes attitude and an imprisoned, almost caged, street intellect very worthy of being a Boss type character, and you fully believe that he was destined for greatness.
The story flows well, and Beringer holds the reins with ease. Now part of my affinity for Eddie and the Cruisers might be sentimental but the movie holds up well, even over time.
