Review of Easy Rider (1969) by Ryan P — 27 Mar 2013
''Easy Rider'' is a very influential movie that helped pave the way for the 'New Hollywood' period, introducing a very innovative way of storytelling. It's also a good, solid piece of filmmaking about the counterculture movement of that period in America.
Dennis Hopper's directing is just pure class, the soundtrack is amazing, and Jack Nicholson's star-turning performance is incredible (it's really the standout piece in the movie for me). However, I only enjoyed this on a minimal level.
It's an important film in American cinema for sure, and perhaps the definitive road picture, but I don't think I'd want to revisit it.
