Review of Dunkirk (2017) by Devin S — 20 Jul 2017
A lot of people expected this movie to be like the beginning of Saving Private Ryan, however that's not what this movie is. While Saving Private Ryan shows how brutal and bloody war is through the war itself, Dunkirk shows it by how it affects the people in the war emotionally, this movie is a fight for survival, not a movie on how bloody war is.
A lot of people are also complaining about this movies lack of dialog, I think this was on purpose. I think Christopher Nolan wanted to show how war affects people in different ways, instead of just telling you how they feel.
