Review of Duck Soup (1933) by Stefán Birgir S — 13 Jun 2010
The Marx Brothers were way ahead of their time. The timing of their one liners combined with Groucho's biting sarcasm and wit is still hilarious almost 80 years later.
I would go into the plot, but there really is no point. "Duck Soup" is nothing but sheer nonsense from start to finish. Hilarious, groundbreaking nonsense ... but nonsense all the same.
The main drawback is that eventually it does become a little too much. The gags and one liners are literally non-stop and at times it does get old. Regardless, it is easy to see why the Marx Brothers were so popular and adored.
