Review of Duck Soup (1933) by Freddie K — 07 Feb 2016
The pioneer of quick, physical comedy, duck soup is a brisk walk through the history of humour and a showcase for the talents of the Marx brothers. This bizarre take on politics is structurally snappy and provides what is more like a string with intersections of skits and banter, sprinkled with sarcastic yet charming undertones.
There is, of course, no actual deep meaning to this straight forward affair, but the almost continuous spread of warm entertainment is comfort food for the mind.
