"Duck Soup" may not be as pointed as other satires about the lunacy of war and dictatorship, but it sure is funny! A thin plot about the state of Freedonia is used to tie together several vaudeville style comedy routines performed with hilarious panache by the immortal Marx brothers.

Groucho stands out, as always, with his trademark rapid-fire line delivery. Everything he says is a stitch! The wonderful Margaret Dumont, used in many of their films, is perfect in her unenviable task of playing straight man to wisecracking Groucho and his endless arsenal of zingers.

Memorable sequences include the exhausting hat-switching routine and the famous segment in which Groucho encounters a look-alike who pretends to be his reflection in a mirror.
