Review of Duck Soup (1933) by Josh F — 17 Sep 2013
Is it bad that I couldn't care less for the film's plot? Generally, the story of a movie is the primary factor of my opinion. With that being said, I give this film a 5/5 rating based solely on the performances of the Marx Bros.
I mean, honestly, as long as they execute their respective comedic talents, then I will have my eyeballs on them all day. With the exception of Harpo's "silent routine," I cannot fathom these comedians thriving in the silent film era.
The rapid-fire jokester Grocho aka Rufus T. Firefly's comedy is right up my alley. I love the puns, the slapstick, the perpetual repartee...everything. This is the only Marx Brothers film I have seen so far, but that will have to change very soon.
