I don't get the reviews here, maybe you have to be English to get the humor and still be a child at heart, as that is what the film is about; keeping your inner child alive.
You can't take this movie seriously. It's funny, Mayall is his classic self and I still love it as much as I did when I was 10 when it was released.
Another entertaining quirky film from the 90's...seriously, just go with it. I you can't let yourself go and be silly, give it a miss and go watch some French drama and pretend you know what it's about.
