Review of Driving Miss Daisy (2015) by Helga M — 19 Sep 2008
I watched this again last night and was reminded all over again why it is one of my all-time favorites. It's fascinating to watch the change in Miss Daisy, so subtly done, in her thoughts, attitudes, emotions, everything, over the time of her relationship with Hoke.
I enjoy watching her pride keep re-asserting itself, at times when she shows her neediness or fear, then catches herself and straightens up and pretends it never happened. I always cry at the end, watching her descent, as it brings to my mind both of my grandmas, fiercely independent women who at the end were totally helpless and brought low, but still maintained their dignity.
One is still alive at over 100!
